Hello Community,
I would just like to share a few updates with you as we continue to navigate new and unknown times. The entire Seymour Oxford Food Bank team is working hard to do our part in making sure NO ONE goes without food not only NOW but ALWAYS.
SNAP BENEFITS previously loaded to EBT cards will still be accessible after the 31st. NO NEW benefits will be loaded.
Thanks to Office of Governor Ned Lamont and our CT state officials, CT FoodShare was awarded 3 million dollars in EMERGENCY funding. While this is greatly appreciated and will HELP, we all agree it's nowhere near enough to provide for the 360,000 residents who would have received snap benefits in November.
THANKSGIVING is just around the corner and we will be partnering with Little Free Pantry on Skokorat, Oxford Neighbor to Neighbor Pantry and The Blessing Pantry to provide Thanksgiving Baskets to those that register. We will post our "Where LOVE feeds ALL" sign-up sheet tomorrow both here and on our social media and signups will run until NOVEMBER 12.
We have added 125 shopping appointment spots over the next week. The phone has been very busy, and we are asking for patience as we work to return all the calls and get YOU in to shop. We are committed to doing everything in our power to meet each request and will be assessing the situation daily and adjusting as necessary.
If you are able and want to help there are lots of ways to do so.
MONETARY DONATIONS allow us to purchase exactly what's needed at the quantity needed and best price
VOLUNTEER We CANNOT move all this food without the KINDNESS and SUPPORT of our Volunteers
FOOD COLLECTIONS and shopping on Our AMAZON WISHLIST
SHARING OUR POSTS Things are forever changing and the best way of getting the information out to the community is YOU.
You can follow us on social media for the latest updates, and if you have any questions you can email kwaltonsofb@gmail.com
HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has rallied with us. We could not even begin to address the increased need without your help and most of all YOUR compassion and kindness.
To those of you who have been affected by the government shutdown we SEE you and stand with you. YOU are absolutely NOT ALONE.
With so much love and gratitude
Kristina Walton
