It’s officially March and we’re ready to SPRING into another BUSY season at the Food Bank!!!

As we gear up for another busy month, we could use A LOT of help in stocking our shelves.

We’re currently hiring an Operations Manager to oversee the day to day operations of the Food Bank.

We are so excited to announce we were accepted in Connecticut Foodshare SNAP Application pilot program.

Can you believe that last year we distributed  an incredible 458,283 lbs of food to 4,997 families and 15,146 individuals?!!!

Thanks SO MUCH to everyone who showed up for our Holiday Meal Giveaway from the early morning food haulers, set up and distribution volunteers, clean up crew, donors, supporters, visitors, and even Santa!

We’ve had some folks reach out about how many meals 🍽️ a donation 💵 would cover. Although we don’t know the exact costs yet, based on prior Meal Giveaways, our estimate is about $35 per family.

Thanks to YOUR help, and the addition of several emergency shifts, we distributed a whopping 58,943 lbs of food to 668 families and 2116 individuals!!!!

Today we’re coming at you with an update on our Turkey Tally. Anyone else LOVE this kind of math? It’s like adding up KINDNESS!

Currently we have over 800 families registered. We expect that number to climb over 1,000 by the end of the day.

There’s a reason Thanksgiving is our director’s absolute FAVORITE holiday and that reason is way our COMMUNITY rallies around this entire operation.

Thanks to YOUR help, we distributed over 43907 lbs of food to over 1,654 individuals and 554 families!

Thanksgiving Basket registration is open until November 12th.

I would just like to share a few updates with you as we continue to navigate new and unknown times. The entire Seymour Oxford Food Bank team is working hard to do our part in making sure NO ONE goes without food not only NOW but ALWAYS.

“I think there’s a lot of heartbreak and as someone who has received SNAP benefits through different periods of my life, I can really tap into how that must feel for those families.” Walton says the food pantry has saw over 1,300 clients last month and she forecasts November’s numbers will be much higher.
