Seymour & Oxford Pantries Join Forces to Spread Holiday Cheer

Following collaboration for the Thanksgiving holiday which helped provide meals to over 700 households, the Seymour Oxford Food Bank, The Blessing Pantry, The Oxford Neighbor to Neighbor Pantry, and Little Free Pantry on Skokorat have joined forces again to provide Holiday Meals to area residents.

They are currently collecting hams, potatoes, green beans, pineapple, frozen pies, and butter and monetary donations for meals that will be distributed drive-through style at the Seymour Oxford Food Bank (20 Pine St. Seymour) on Monday December 23rd from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm. Kristina Walton, the Seymour Oxford Food Bank's director, is also working with CT Foodshare to help secure additional grocery items for the pantry's clients who are receiving meals and won't have access to the food bank during their week long closure for the holiday break.

Initially just the The Little Free Pantry on Skokorat and Oxford Neighbor to Neighbor Pantry, also stewarded by Walton, planned to coordinate the meals as they had done in previous years. However Walton decided to bring the food bank on board, Walton commenting "This is what we are here for." The volunteers of the food bank agreed and joined the effort.
