Hello Community!
Although we’ve been EXTRA busy with everything going on with SNAP Benefits, we’re still committed to bringing you the MOST LOVE FILLED Thanksgiving Basket Giveaway yet.
This year we’re super fortunate to have funding for our holidays meals from the Valley Community Foundation and Katharine Matthies Foundation. Through their combined generosity we received a total of $20,000 in funding.
We know that seems like A LOT of money  and IT IS! We’re SO GRATEFUL for it and will stretch it as far as we possibly can.
Now here’s the BREAKDOWN:
So far we have over 7,00 families signed up. We expect that number to climb well over 1,000 families before the sign up ends on November 12th.
We have roughly 300 turkey donations committed. That means PURCHASING the other 700. Luckily ShopRite is willing to let us purchase our turkeys in bulk at $1.49. That is an estimated cost of almost $19,000 just for turkeys. We also plan to provide gravy, stuffing, and other sides. Some of these items will be donated through numerous community food drives (thank you!!!). Some will be available through CT FoodShare. Some will come from TEAM, Inc Project MANNA. However most will be purchased in bulk, along with the produce.
So what do those numbers look like?
Well, we created a little graphic to show you. While these numbers will give you a clear idea of what goes into creating a Thanksgiving Giveaway where Love Feeds All, what they can’t show is all the MAGIC that goes into an event this big.
There’s a reason Thanksgiving is our director’s absolute FAVORITE holiday and that reason is way our COMMUNITY rallies around this entire operation.
