“I think there’s a lot of heartbreak and as someone who has received SNAP benefits through different periods of my life, I can really tap into how that must feel for those families.” Walton says the food pantry has saw over 1,300 clients last month and she forecasts November’s numbers will be much higher.

✨ Gratitude of the Day post!!! ✨

We have so much to be thankful for today!

We collected 168 bags of groceries from Market 32 in Oxford. This has been an ongoing effort by the Market 32 employees to support us and asking for donations. These 168 bags were purchased by shoppers for our neighbors in need. It’s just so neat!

We also received a whole lot of donations from Dynamic Orthodontics at Quarry Walk in Oxford. Just look at all of that food! It went right on the shelves and home with clients already!

The third picture is from our friends up at Contractor Nation/Basement Systems in Seymour who’ve been running a food drive for us all month. We got a text today saying they “might need a bigger box.” 😄

Every day, we meet people who are struggling to get by. We are able to greet them with love and kindness and give them what they need because of this MASSIVE community effort. Not only does it help our clients, it helps the hearts of everyone working at the food bank, too. We appreciate all of you out there!

Tomorrow, you’ll see donation drives happening all around the community for us and for our fellow food banks. We are so grateful to everyone volunteering their time and donating these precious gifts! Together, we make a difference.

In the past 12 days, the Seymour Oxford Food Bank has served over 1341 individuals. That’s more than DOUBLE the amount served during the same timeframe last month. The reality is as impressive as it heartbreaking. This is what we are witnessing everyday. Neighbors who are struggling in alarming numbers.

And yet, what we are ALSO seeing is all of YOU rallying to HELP us meet their needs with dignity, love, and understanding. So many of YOU have reached out to support our work. YOU have volunteered, donated, organized food drives, and moved mountains of food and packages. YOU have shown up in full force.

And honestly, it’s been breathtaking to witness. Each shift we are moved to tears, not just by heartbreak, but the kind of emotion that pours out when you witness humanity at its absolute BEST.

So this World’s Kindness Day, we honor each and every Food Bank Supporter, from Facebook fan, to volunteer, staff, board member, community partner, funder, and visitor. Thank YOU for your faith in us. Thank YOU for leaning in with LOVE when times are uncertain. Thank YOU for providing HOPE. Thank YOU for choosing to be a part of something bigger than any of us.

Meet Kelly!

Kelly is part of our ALL STAR⭐️ social media team! 🙌🏻

She is a master of chaos and organizer of people. Drawing on her background in theater and disaster response, Kelly is quick to jump in not only with both hands but a rallied community response when things hit the fan around here.

In the past weeks, Kelly has helped coordinate countless volunteers to haul thousand upon thousands of pounds of food- often during odd hours and on short notice. She’s filled in coverage for shopping shifts and filled in all of YOU about what’s going on with loads of heart and humor.

She’s also one of only a handful of people who can take responsibilities off our director’s plate 🍽️, which is kind of a big deal.

Thank you Kelly for all of the hours, physical labor, and soul you’ve poured not just into the Seymour Oxford Food Bank, but our entire community.

Thank you for the pet food, Evergreen Veterinary Clinic!

We don’t want people to have to choose between feeding themselves and feeding their animal friends. We hope that in helping to feed pets, we can also help to keep them in their homes and out of animal shelters. Whenever we get pet food in, it’s gone in the blink of an eye.

We see so much generosity and kindness come through our doors from our many churches in the Seymour/Oxford community. We are so grateful for each and every one of them helping to keep our shelves stocked and our neighbors fed!

Meet Our Staff

Executive Director

Kristina Walton

Kristina became executive director of the food bank in 2024 and has worked alongside dedicated staff and volunteers to expand the hours and offerings available. Her passion is making sure all our neighbors have their needs met, including feeling seen, heard, and loved. When she is not at the food bank or in the community advocating for her neighbors, Kristina enjoys spending time with her husband Ty and 5 children who she steward's the Oxford Neighbor to Neighbor Pantry with out of their home.

Her super power is: Creating MAGIC

Operations Manager

Joslynn Hernandez

Joslynn joined our team as Operations Manager in 2025 after volunteering countless hours. She has a deep passion for helping others and brings valuable experience from TEAM Inc, Bridgeport Rescue Mission, and the Seymour Pumpkin Festival. Her favorite part about the Food Bank is meeting "wonderful people in our community", including all our awesome volunteers.

Her super power is: Not just remaining calm during the storm, but friendly and helpful.
