Welcome to Seymour Oxford Food Bank!

The SOFB Difference

The Seymour Oxford Food Bank is the safety net the Valley — and all of Connecticut — can turn to when faced with a challenge. We are not just a food bank. Based in Seymour but open to any Connecticut resident, we operate a barrier‑free, client‑choice pantry with no qualifying paperwork and no wrong reason to walk through our door.

In just two years, our monthly visitors have grown from 90 families to more than 800, reflecting both rising need and the trust our community places in us.

Food is only the beginning. We amplify our pantry services with Free Tax Preparation, SNAP application assistance, and rapid‑response support when crises arise. We move at the speed the moment demands — on the front lines during the 2024 flood and the statewide SNAP shutdown, assembling 169 Easter meals in just three days after an unexpected request, and distributing 281,279 meals already this year.

We are here for every neighbor, in every moment, with dignity, compassion, and action.

Mission

To provide food with compassion and understanding, in a welcoming space where people feel connected and supported.

Vision

We envision a hunger-free world where every person is nourished with dignity, compassion, and respect—empowered by equitable access to food and uplifted by a community rooted in care and shared humanity.

Values

  1. Dignity  We honor the worth of every individual by ensuring that food is shared with care, not judgment.

  2. Compassion We lead with empathy, recognizing the humanity in every story and every need.

  3. Equity We believe nutritious food is a right, not a privilege—and we work to remove barriers for all.

  4. Community We build strong, inclusive communities where people support one another and thrive together.

  5. Respectful We listen, learn, and serve with humility—treating every person with kindness and respect.

  6. Integrity We steward resources responsibly and operate with transparency, trust, and ethical commitment.

  7. Collaboration We grow stronger through shared purpose, working hand-in-hand with volunteers, donors, and neighbors.

Executive Director

Kristina Walton

Kristina became executive director of the food bank in 2024 and has worked alongside dedicated staff and volunteers to expand the hours and offerings available. Her passion is making sure all our neighbors have their needs met, including feeling seen, heard, and loved. When she is not at the food bank or in the community advocating for her neighbors, Kristina enjoys spending time with her husband Ty and 5 children who she steward's the Oxford Neighbor to Neighbor Pantry with out of their home.

Operations Manager

Charlotte Adams

Charlotte comes to us with an impressive background in customer service, management, marketing, fundraising, and organizing. However, what stood out MOST was her passion for COMMUNITY.

In her own words:

“I believe one of the greatest gifts we can offer others is to leave them feeling a little better than before we met. I’m dedicated to making people feel valued, seen, and heard. I try to lead with kindness, a smile, and a hug. You may even catch me dancing or hear me singing as I move through the day. Working hard is important to me, but so is having fun and sharing plenty of laughter along the way.

I’m truly excited to join a team of warm, caring individuals who are committed to brightening the days of those around them.”

Meet Rob!

Meet Rob!

Rob has been a fixture of the Food Bank for quite some time. If you’ve seen our van out and about, then chances are you’ve crossed paths with him.

Although he’s not big on recognition or attention (sorry Rob!), he’s an awesome human who deserves heaps of both. The truth is, our operation relies heavily on recovered food from grocers and bulk donations. More often than not, Rob, is the guy doing pick up and delivery. He’s consistently willing to lend some muscle along with a smile, including removing doors and moving furniture to improve our layout.

Do you have a volunteer or staff member you'd like to give a special shout out?

Contact
"I cannot gather the words to thank you enough because they wouldn't be close to how appreciate I am for your service provided to me and my family. "
"They are extremely generous. They give you what you need when needed. I'm very grateful to all the volunteers. They are amazing."
"I cried when I brought all the groceries in of just joy and thankfulness. It was an over abundance of gratitude. Thank you ever so much."

Have thoughts to share? We'd love to hear from you. Get in touch and let us know your feedback.
