Hello Community
We wanted to share what we currently know about SNAP benefits and the government shutdown.
If the federal shutdown keeps going, SNAP benefits for November will not be sent out.
If the federal shutdown continues past Oct. 31, SNAP recipients may not be able to use any SNAP benefits left over from previous months until the federal government reopens.
November federal SNAP benefits cannot be issued until the federal shutdown ends or new guidance is provided by FNS.
At this time, SNAP benefits already loaded onto EBT cards remain available for use to purchase food through Oct. 31.
360,000 CT residents receive SNAP benefits each month to help keep food on the table. Our working families who simply do not earn enough to cover all their basic needs.
So what does this mean for The Seymour Oxford Food Bank and our community? It means more than ever we need to come together to make sure no one is left to face this struggle alone. We are committed to do our ABSOLUTE best at making sure all our neighbors have the nutrients their bodies need to face day ahead.
While this is scary and unknown I have no doubt our community is filled with all the LOVE AND KINDNESS to make it through.
